BrightCulinary (brightculinary.com) is run by IntegrousAI LLC. This page explains what we collect when you use the site, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests go to us through Contact us.
The short version
- You can read everything on BrightCulinary without an account, and without giving us anything.
- If you make an account, we keep your name, your email and a scrambled form of your password.
- We only record how you use the site if you allow it. We don't store your IP address or browser details with that record.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- When advertising is on, ads are personalized only if you say yes.
What we collect
If you create an account: your first and last name, your email address, and your password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash, so we can't read it. Each successful sign-in is recorded with its time and your browser type. After a failed sign-in attempt, we keep the IP address it came from for a short time, to slow down anyone guessing passwords.
Things you send us: if you write to us through Contact us, we keep your message, the name and email you give with it, the page it is about, and the IP address it came from (to stop the same address flooding the form). If you add recipes to My cookbook while signed in, we keep them and your notes so they are there next time; signed out, they stay in your own browser.
How you use the site: only if you allow usage analytics. We record which pages you open, whether you interacted with a page, which outside websites you leave to (the site's name only), and named actions like using a filter. If you are signed in, the record is linked to your account so we can see how the site is used over time; if you are not, it is tied only to a random visit number in your browser, which ties one visit's pages together and is deleted when you close the tab. The record does not include your IP address or browser details.
Password resets: if you ask for a reset link, your email address is sent to our email provider, Resend, which delivers the message.
Hosting: the site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
Videos: the cooking videos are YouTube videos, played on this site in YouTube's embedded player, loaded from youtube.com. When a page with a video opens, YouTube (Google) receives the request and may read or set its own cookies, including those of a viewer signed in to YouTube; its privacy policy applies to what it collects.
Cookies and storage in your browser
| Name | What it does | Kind | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
bns_sess | Keeps you signed in. It can't be read by page scripts. | Necessary | 7 days |
bns_auth | Tells the page you are probably signed in, so it can show your menu. It holds no personal data. | Necessary | 7 days |
bc_consent (browser storage) | Remembers your cookie choices. | Necessary | Until you clear it |
bs_theme, bc-scaler-last (browser storage) | Remember light or dark mode and your last recipe scaling. | Necessary | Until you clear it |
bns_uid (browser storage) | Your account number, so that when someone else signs in on the same browser, your saved items are cleared from it. | Necessary | Until you clear it |
bns_j (tab storage) | The random visit number used by usage analytics. | Analytics | Until the tab closes |
| Advertising cookies (when ads are on) | Set by our ad provider, Google, to show and measure ads, and, only with your consent, to personalize them. | Advertising | Set by Google |
Necessary storage is always on, because the site can't work without it. Analytics and advertising are off until you choose. You can change your choice at any time.
Browser privacy signals: if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat it as "necessary only". Usage analytics stays off and ads are not personalized.
Advertising
BrightCulinary is free to read, and advertising helps pay for it. When ads are on, Google may use cookies to show and measure them. If you allow advertising cookies, the ads may be based on your interests. If you don't, you'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized. Google's privacy policy explains how Google uses this information: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
How long we keep it
- Sign-in sessions end after 7 days.
- Your account and the things you saved stay until you ask us to delete them.
- Records of failed sign-in attempts are kept only as long as needed to block password guessing.
- Usage records are kept for 24 months.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to delete your account, by writing to us through Contact us. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under your local law. We will answer those requests too.
Children
BrightCulinary is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
