Braided sausage and mozzarella stuffed breadstick

Mix the ground hot Italian sausage with salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes and a big handful of shredded mozzarella, by hand, adding more cheese until it is nicely cheesy.

Flour the surface, open out the store-bought pizza dough and level off one edge.

Lay a fairly thin line of the sausage mixture along the edge.

Roll the dough over to cover the sausage completely, seal tightly all along, and cut off the tube. Repeat to make three tubes.

On lightly floured parchment, lay the three tubes side by side, join them at the top and braid fairly tightly, keeping the seams underneath.

Brush with an egg wash of a beaten egg and about a tablespoon of water.

Sprinkle with minced dried onion, including the sides, and cracked pepper.

Bake at 375 until brown, about 25 minutes, so the sausage inside is cooked.

Cut and serve.
