BrightCulinary Recipe App
Paste a recipe, or build one from the flavors you want. Make more or less of it, change cups and spoons to grams and millilitres, swap ingredients with the right amounts, see its flavor profile, and save or print your version.
Nothing you paste leaves this page.
Cups and spoons measure volume and grams measure weight. A cup of flour and a cup of sugar weigh different amounts, so volume converts to millilitres and weight to grams, never one into the other.
Every substitute here was said by a cook in a video or written in a textbook; each one links to where.

Flavor profile
From the first smell to the finish, after Culinary Foundations 9.1, p.82: which ingredients give the top, middle and low notes, the aftertaste, and the roundness that joins them. Hover a name for why.
Build from notes
Work backwards: choose the parts of the flavor profile you want, and get ingredients that give them and that cooks put together. Start from your recipe, from ingredients you type, or from nothing.
Notes from Culinary Foundations p.82; pairings measured from recipes by three or more different cooks (Flavor Pairs), and from The Flavor Bible (Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg) where the cooks have not measurably paired them. A starting point to cook and taste, not a tested recipe.
